What is Pulse® Safer Braking Technology?

This additional safety feature is an available add-on for Subaru vehicles at our dealership. The Pulse® Safer Braking Technology is a rear-end collision avoidance system utilized by pressing the brake pedal. When you hit the brake pedal, the system causes the third brake light to pulse 4-times rapidly. The pulsing won't repeat upon any subsequent application of the brakes for 5 seconds to avoid annoying trailing drivers in stop and go traffic around Portland.

The Pulse® Safety Braking Technology creates an attention-grabbing alert for the driver behind you, giving them a heads up that you're slowing down or stopping. While this isn't a 100-percent effective system at preventing other drivers from colliding with you, it gives them additional warning that Subaru standard safety features won't offer!

The Benefits of Pulse® Safer Braking Technology

While additional safety options are always helpful, the Pulse® system goes above and beyond to ensure you get the most benefits from the add-on.

You might ask yourself why Pulse® Safer Braking Technology should be installed on your vehicle. The advantages include:

  • 37-percent of all car accidents involve some sort of rear-end collision, with 28-percent of those rear-end collision deemed as a Total Loss
  • A Department of Transportation study demonstrated that 90-percent of rear-end collisions are avoidable if the driver trailing gets just one more second of warning - the Pulse® system gives you that warning.
  • Distracted drivers are 69-percent more likely to notice your Subaru vehicle if it has the Pulse® Safer Braking Technology.
  • Distracted driving is now more of a risk to you and your passengers than drunk driving, making it more important than ever to use every method to keep you safe.
  • Distracted driving is the number one cause of death for young adults aged 18 to 25.
  • With the Pulse® Safer Braking Technology, you'll find an affordable way to protect yourself, your family, and your property against rear-end collision-related injuries and damage.

We don't doubt the capability of our drivers when it comes to their new Subaru vehicle. However, we aren't certain of the other drivers you might come across in your travels. We want to provide you with peace of mind, allowing you to enjoy a stress-free time behind the wheel. Distracted driving, a big factor in most rear-end collisions, can result from eating and drinking, talking with passengers, using built-in navigation systems, talking on the phone, and adjusting the radio. While most drivers are encouraged to perform these actions when at a complete stop and in Park, it's not always a guarantee that drivers will follow those instructions. Add the Pulse® Safer Braking Technology today and add another level of protection!
