The New Life Program - Women For Sobriety - WFS Feels The Subaru Love! - Margo G

The New Life Program - Women For Sobriety - WFS extends a huge thank you to Subaru of Portland for the first ever sponsorship of our 2022 WFS Annual Conference in Portland, OR "Bloom". Their sponsorship helped make this year’s conference even more successful and we were able to raise over $100,000 to support our non-profit organization’s programs tailored specifically for women overcoming substance use disorders (SUDs). Our “New Life” program provides supportive, empowering, secular, and life-affirming principles that address the unique needs and challenges of women in recovery. Our members create wonderful new and healthy lives as a result of the support they get. The support of Subaru of Portland was important to the growth of our program and shows their commitment to women and making our city an even better place for women to live healthy, happy, empowered and productive lives in recovery. With three support group meetings in Portland Oregon, (more than any other city in the US!), it was a perfect choice for our 2022 WFS Conference. This event provided our members an opportunity to "bloom", learn and grow in recovery with new ideas and hands on activities from some of the brightest minds in addiction recovery both through the in-person conference in Portland, OR and our On-Demand online option. They helped us in so many ways from a Shuttle - display car, to boxes to get everything into the Portland State University facilities. We were able to proudly shine a light on the generosity of Subaru of Portland, our Platinum sponsor, throughout the conference and their Love Promise Commitment was evident to everyone who attended. The thousands of women who have been helped and are currently being helped in our program, especially here in Oregon and Washington are forever thankful for the support of Subaru and Subaru of Portland. We definitely feel the Subaru love!

Subaru of Portland Helps Make Portland More Beautiful - Margo G

We were so happy to have the Subaru of Portland Community Volunteer Team join our Portland Parks and Department of Environmental Services Team team at the recent planting event. The railroad corridor at Field’s Park in Portland needed some serious love and got it at that event. These kinds of local projects help preserve our land, by creating sustainable, pollinator friendly natural areas around Portland. It’s so nice to see Portland companies like Subaru of Portland step up and show their commitment to our community by volunteering and doing hands on work to help make our community’s environment healthier and more sustainable. Plus they make Portland a greener and more vibrant place to live. With tight city budgets , the extra manpower is greatly appreciated. The Subaru of Portland team wasn’t afraid to dig in and get their hands dirty, plus they were great to work with. We’re looking forward to working with their team on future projects and thanks Subaru of Portland!

Make a Dog's Day - Sarah Y

Subaru of Portland, especially Chris Borquist and Mitch Tandeske, were fantastic partners during the October 2021 Subaru Loves Pets campaign. During the campaign, which took place throughout Adopt a Shelter Pet Month, Subaru of Portland displayed materials in their dealership promoting available OHS pets to customers. Since OHS is still operating by appointment only, we provided a QR code that Subaru customers could scan to view our available animals. Thanks to Subaru of Portland's generous partnership and commitment to making sure our materials were visible in the dealership, OHS found homes for nearly 200 cats and dogs during the month of October. Adopted animals included Melah, a blind cat who needed to find a home with his brother, Grayson. Melah was already considered and "underdog" due to his blindness, but animals who must be adopted as a pair typically take a much longer time to find a home. In addition to Melah, more than a dozen other "underdogs" found homes during the month of October thanks to our partnership with Subaru of Portland.

Santa Paws at Subaru of Portland - Sarah Y

The Oregon Humane Society held our annual holiday photo event, Santa Paws, at a number of local Subaru dealerships in 2021. While all of the stores were excellent hosts, Subaru of Portland went above and beyond by decking out the dealership sales floor in holiday decor prior to our event, and even playing Christmas music while the photos were being taken. These extra touches made the event feel all the more festive and special for the participants, especially since we did not have a Santa on site as a Covid-19 precaution. The Subaru of Portland service team also came to the rescue of OHS staff during the event by adding air to the tire of our company van, which had issued a low tire pressure warning that morning. Thanks to their generous hospitality and assistance, Santa Paws was a huge success, and our event staff was able to return themselves and the event supplies back to the shelter confidently and safely with a fully inflated tire.

Subaru of Portland Help Cleanup With SOLVE! - Larissa G

On Saturday, September 25, 2021, SOLVE, with the support of Subaru of Portland, celebrated the Beach & Riverside Cleanup. This annual statewide event is an opportunity for Oregonians to come together and care for our most cherished natural spaces and places through volunteer litter cleanups and habitat restoration work. Volunteers from Portland to Medford and Astoria to Bandon got to work at more than 120 volunteer projects. Miles of Oregon coastline was scoured for microplastics. Shopping carts, car tires, and debris were pulled from our waterways. And in the Rose City, Subaru of Portland employees and more than 80 other community members came together to clean up the neighborhood surrounding the dealership. Volunteers removed a staggering 1,230 pounds of litter and debris during this single project. They spread out, walking along the Eastbank Esplanade, along bikeways, and towards the bank of the Willamette River. Each piece of litter removed prevented unwanted plastics and other materials from entering storm drains and waterways, where it leaches toxins and harms wildlife. Subaru of Portland’s commitment to SOLVE’s Beach & Riverside Cleanup is an example of their investment in the local community. Not only did their support help make Portland a cleaner and healthier place, but it also helped to create a safer and more welcoming neighborhood for all. Picking up litter is a simple thing to do, and its effects are huge. In total, the 2021 Beach & Riverside Cleanup saw nearly 3,200 volunteers remove more than 60,000 pounds of litter and marine debris from Oregon’s environment. These results are made possible by the hard work of volunteers combined with the generosity of businesses that actively support their local community. Thank you, Subaru of Portland!

Going the Extra Mile for Pets in Need - Sarah Y

Subaru of Portland has supported the Oregon Humane Society's Doggie Dash event as Presenting Sponsor for numerous years, and in 2021 they went above and beyond as a partner by creating a new commercial specifically highlighting the event. 2021 was the second year that OHS needed to pivot to make Doggie Dash a virtual event, and after seeing disappointing engagement in 2020, we decided to expand the 2021 event to 30 days' worth of programming. The Subaru of Portland commercial helped maintain visibility of the event in the community, resulting in increased engagement over 2020 and more than $500,000 raised to help pets in need.

Making a Dog's Day - Sarah Y

Subaru of Portland supported the Oregon Humane Society with partnership during the October Share the Love/Make a Dog's Day promotion. The timing of this campaign was perfect, as our largest event of the year, Doggie Dash, was postponed to October this year due to the pandemic. Subaru of Portland was the Presenting Sponsor for that event, and they also sent a few representatives from the dealership to help maintain our dog path (while wearing masks and adhering to social distancing). When the dealership representatives arrived for their volunteering session on the dog path, they brought some Share the Love and Subaru Loves Pets swag to help us with our promotion of the partnership. We were able to snap a few shots of a dog named Bridger wearing the Subaru bandana, which we used on our social media platforms in October. As it turns out, Bridger was an "underdog," as he was diagnosed as being heartworm positive upon his arrival at OHS from Oklahoma through our Second Chance program. Heartworm-positive dogs require a special adopter who will dedicate themselves to the dog's health and ensure that the dog's lifestyle is fairly calm. For an active dog like Bridger, this was a tall order. Happily, Bridger was adopted on 10/21/20 and is now living his best life in his forever home.

Make-A-Wish Oregon - Riah's Wish Come True Video - Mallory T

Our friends at Subaru of Portland granted Riah's wish to meet princesses this past summer. The team did an incredible job making Riah and her family feel special and welcome. They also put together this amazing video to document this special day. Thank you, Subaru of Portland!
