What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

Subaru of Portland makes the holidays magical!  –  Fletcher J

From mid-November through early December Subaru of Portland championed the Make-A-Wish Oregon Toy Drive to support their Holiday Magic campaign. Over three weeks, the team collected a Subaru full of toys for children currently in Randall’s and Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospitals that Make-A-Wish Oregon will deliver during special events at each location. Their efforts to promote, support, and fulfill the need to bring magic to these children and their families who are going through difficult circumstances make them pillars of our community and people that can always be relied upon in challenging (and good) times. Thank you to Chris, Jon, Mitchell, and the outstanding team at Subaru of Portland for their support this holiday season!

Riah's Wish Reveal Party at Subaru of Portland  –  Mallory T

Subaru of Portland's Chris, Mitch and team created an unforgettable princess party for Make-A-Wish Oregon wish kid, Riah. Here is a link to a video they produced: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PYD_wR4JOn9-nG_w6vmE0nRfWSB2CVCF/view. Riah is a local 3 year old battling a rare cancer who loves all of the Disney princesses and Disney movies. To send Riah off in style, the Subaru of Portland team welcomed Riah and her family with a ride in the Subaru Ascent from their home to the dealership and surprised her with gifts for her upcoming trip to Disneyland, real princesses, pink princess cupcakes, a castle bounce house and a beautiful balloon arch made with her favorite colors. It was a party of a life-time which Riah and her family will never forget. We cannot be more thankful for not only producing an incredible wish party but also financially adopting Riah's wish! Thank you Chris, Mitch and the entire team at Subaru of Portland.

Subaru of Portland Donates Books to Alameda K-5  –  Verna L

Alameda was overwhelmed by the generous donation of 6 brand new boxes of Science books that we greatly needed for our library. We had just finished weeding our library collection of old published books from the 80s and 90s. Subaru made this donation at such a perfect time when we needed up to date books to put back on our shelves. The titles that were donated ranged from gardening, physics, animals, multicultural biographies, how to garden books and so much more. The teachers were quite pleased with the broad scope of STEM subjects that will enrich our library and classroom experience. The Subaru Community Service Team came and read stories to the kids and chatted with the students about reading, which always re-enforces literacy skills. Every one of the Subaru folks who visited was so friendly and eager to get involved! The library organized a book tasting for the kids to sit down and read all of the books that were given to us by Subaru. It was a blast and many of the kids said that it was the most fun that they had ever had in our library. We really appreciate your generosity! From the students, teachers, and Administration from Alameda, we thank you!

Subaru of Portland Loves Doggie Dash!  –  Sarah Y

The team at Subaru of Portland, led by General Manager Christopher Borquist, went above and beyond in their partnership with the Oregon Humane Society during our 2019 Doggie Dash event. OHS’ largest fundraiser of the year, Doggie Dash engages approximately 10,000 individuals from the Portland community and brings in over $700,000 in donations to support our important, life-saving work. Subaru of Portland has been a longtime supporter of this event, serving as the exclusive Presenting Sponsor – a sponsorship without which the event could not take place. In 2019, in addition to their Presenting Sponsorship, Subaru of Portland put together a generous assortment of pet supplies valued at $250 for OHS to use in our Doggie Dash raffle, enabling us to raise even more money to help pets in need. Beyond the particulars of the Doggie Dash sponsorship, Subaru of Portland is an incredibly supportive partner, and every detail related to the event was met with enthusiasm. Chris Borquist’s usual response to OHS is “Whatever you need, we’re happy to help!” and this same willingness to assist is evident in every team member at the dealership. The Subaru of Portland marketing team sent emails about Doggie Dash and promoted the partnership to increase donations from the community, General Sales Manager Mitch Tandeske spoke about just how much Subaru loves pets at the starting line of the race, and the dealership had the attached video created at the event, which perfectly demonstrates the joyful spirit of Doggie Dash and the incredible partnership that we have with the Subaru of Portland team. We are lucky to have such a generous and committed partner in the community.

PYB Build Construction Job Training Opportunities  –  Caden C

Portland YouthBuilders’ (PYB) mission is to support young people who are committed to changing their lives to become self-sufficient, contributing members of the workforce and their community. Founded in 1995, PYB is a non-profit organization that provides education, vocational training in construction and technology, leadership development and long-term support to low income youth. Each year, the program serves 200 young people between the ages of 17 to 24 who have not completed high school and face serious barriers to success in their current situation, including homelessness, interpersonal violence, addiction, hunger, and loss. For the past two years, The Subaru of America Foundation provided PYB with financial support for its Construction Training Program. In that time, the students in PYB’s construction program have built three affordable housing units through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity and completed one total remodel of a home that will go to a family currently experiencing homelessness. In addition to giving back to their community by building affordable housing, PYB’s construction students gain the skills that they need to enter living wage trade jobs. PYB’s construction program is a pre-apprenticeship program approved by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries which means that when students complete the program, they get preferred entry when applying for jobs in the trades.

Subaru Loves to Care  –  Tori H

Many thanks to everyone at Subaru of Portland and Doernbecher Children's Hospital, not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS’s mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. It is very humbling to see just how much you do for the community.
