Subaru of Portland - Tovi E
On June 16th, Subaru of Portland partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Legacy Emanuel Health through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This partnership involved delivering blankets, patient care kits, and messages of hope to cancer patients. This year, Subaru of Portland will also support the LLS Urgent Need Program, Pediatric, which will provide 20 pediatric blood cancer patient households with financial relief to help offset non-medical costs associated with treatment, such as transportation, food, housing, utilities, etc. It was an amazing delivery day filled with kindness and connection. Through Subaru of Portland’s City participation in these programs, it shows they care. Subaru of Portland consistently shows up and shows out for their community, and that impact was felt on the delivery day. Legacy Emanuel Health was a joy to work with, and we were so happy they were the recipients of Subaru of Portland’s donation this year. We are so grateful to work and live in a community that takes care of one another. Thank you, Subaru of Portland and thank you Legacy Emanuel Health for being firm in your mission to help others.
Subaru of Portland Supports Rose Haven Day Shelter and Community Center - Joshua S
Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in Portland, this is a harsh reality. Helping others strengthens communities, which is why Subaru of Portland is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like Subaru of Portland have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/15/2025, Subaru of Portland donated 252 coats & 252 shoes/socks to Rose Haven Day Shelter and Community Center. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
Duckworth Beach Subaru of Portland Cleanup - Willie L
Subaru of Portland is a significant contributor to Human Access Project's (HAP) work both financially and with volunteer employee participation in our work. Being named as the year end Share the Love Campaign beneficiary has allowed HAP to scale up our work and create a new HAP Beach Brigade program. On Wednesday July 2nd - Subaru of Portland participated in the newly formed HAP Beach Brigade and brought 25 employees including General Manager Zac Caverhill leading the charge. It's one thing to contribute money which is extremely meaningful to HAP but to really get behind our work with hard labor really demonstrates Subaru of Portland's commitment to the environment and community. We started with a light beach clean up then progressed to moving concrete off the beach by forming a human chain. The concrete chunks weighted in between 5-25 lbs. The Subaru of Portland volunteers jumped right in moving close to 1/4 ton of concrete at the beach. There is more work ahead to improve this space for habitat and people but Subaru of Portland gave this project a great shot in the arm to get it started.
Thrills for Hudson start at Subaru of Portland! - Fletcher J
Hudson is all about thrills! Sometimes the thrills are exciting, but sometimes they are scary. When the 12-year-old found out he would need a liver transplant, the thoughts going through his head were likely all over the map. When he found out he was going to receive a wish though, his mind went into overdrive thinking about what he would want his wish to be. In a short amount of time, Hudson decided that his live for thrills would rule his wish and that he wanted this wish to be to go to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio. Subaru of Portland has long been a champion of supporting local wish kids and their families dating back to 2019. When they had the opportunity to host a wish party for Hudson, they jumped at the opportunity, even renting out a facility where Hudson and his friends could play games including pickleball and more down the street from their store! They also purchased gifts for Hudson, who loves ultimate frisbee as well, including some cool light up frisbees and a mobile disc golf basket and Hudson lost his mind when he realized what it was. This is what Subaru's Love Promise is all about, showing love in the community to those who are in need of it most. Thanks to Zac, Tyler, and the awesome Subaru of Portland team for helping to make Hudson's wish party the ultimate win for a boy who has been through more than his fair share of challenges in his young life!
Doggie Dash 2025! - Vincent P
Doggie Dash is so much more than a walk in the park. In-fact, it is the ultimate pet-friendly fun run and community festival— and it’s also Oregon Humane Society’s biggest fundraiser of the year, ensuring we can continue providing critical, life-saving programs and services for animals in need. But this incredible event wouldn’t be possible without thousands of compassionate individuals and businesses who rally together to raise funds and advocate for our furry friends. And that is especially the case when it comes to Subaru of Portland, who has been the longtime presenting sponsor of Doggie Dash. Without their support, Doggie Dash wouldn’t be nearly as paw-some as it is! Thanks to Subaru of Portland’s involvement, more than 4,000 people and 2,000 animals joined the celebration, helping us raise over $500,000 to further our mission of creating a more humane society.
The Gift of Warmth for Rose Haven - Angel S
We had the pleasure of having Operation Warm visit our day shelter and community center in NW Portland in January. At Rose Haven we serve women, children and marginalized genders experiencing homelessness and poverty. The gift of warmth is powerful and helps provide dignity and compassion to the guests we serve. We are very grateful to be able to provide warm coats, new shoes and socks to our families. Operation Warm visited our shelter during our special "Family Afternoon." While children are always welcomed into our shelter; family afternoon is a special day. We transform our shelter to be kid friendly moving furniture to have toys and special activities available to our families. It was a joy to witness all the smiling faces of the children and grateful grins of the mother's we serve. We are so appreciative to Operation Warm. You have uplifted our community - Thank you.
Subaru of Portland makes Portland shine bright with SOLVE! - Adam G
Subaru of Portland continues to prioritize the environmental health of our beautiful city. They played a critical role in two recent events that activated hundreds of volunteers to clean up our central city. On September 18 and 26, Subaru of Portland led efforts in collecting more than 700 pounds of litter from our streets. SOLVE is grateful to Subaru of Portland for helping activate our community to make our home cleaner, safer, and beautiful for all.
Subaru of Portland X Light The Night - Madi R
Subaru of Portland came out on October 5th to support Light The Night Portland. Light The Night is an annual walk to honor, remember and celebrate those impacted by blood cancer. All the funds raised for Light The Night go to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and their mission to end blood cancer and support the patients and their families who have been impacted.
Helping Pet Owners in Need - Sarah Y
Subaru of Portland celebrated Subaru Loves Pets Month by supporting a community spay/neuter clinic with Oregon Humane Society (OHS). On October 8, team members from the dealership assisted clients and OHS Community Veterinary Hospital staff throughout the daylong clinic. Subaru of Portland team members helped by doing laundry, transporting animals into surgery prep areas, and cleaning exam rooms between patients. As a result of the clinic, which was supported by a Subaru of Portland grant administered by the ASPCA, 141 animals were sterilized for low-income clients. Spay/neuter surgeries are critical to reducing unwanted litters and helping to prevent the overpopulation of animals, and we are grateful for the opportunity to provide this service to so many clients who otherwise might not have been able to afford the cost of the procedure. Thanks to Subaru of Portland for enabling us to host this clinic, and for bringing team members to help ensure that the event was a success.
SOLVE, Subaru of Portland & the Willamette River Cleanup - Mary C
SOLVE expresses heartfelt gratitude to Subaru of Portland for their partnership in the Willamette River Cleanup on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Your financial support has not only positively impacted the river's ecosystem and improved the health and safety of the Eastbank Esplanade, but perhaps most importantly, it served to unite our community for a greater cause, our shared environment. The annual Willamette River Cleanup is an opportunity for everyone to combat litter on the water and along the Willamette's iconic riverbanks. The Willamette River runs through the heart of our city, giving Portland its valued nickname, City of Bridges. Many storm drains in Portland's Central Eastside flow directly into the Willamette River, affecting its water quality and shoreline health. Eighty percent of trash and debris found in our oceans and coastlines comes from inland sources and that is why the Willamette River Cleanup is such a critical undertaking. Not only to protect the Willamette from the harmful effects of trash, but to keep the watershed and connected waterways clean and healthy. SOLVE works to create opportunities for individuals and businesses to give back to their communities and play a crucial leadership role in protecting and preserving the beauty and safety of our city from the harmful effects of trash. We thank Subaru of Portland for their ongoing financial support and participation. Subaru of Portland's sponsorship empowered more than 80 volunteers, to collect an astonishing 860 pounds of trash along the riverbank. During the annual cleanup, volunteers both on the water and on the shore uncovered a staggering assortment of discarded items, including scooters, shopping carts, and tires. As well, volunteers collected hundreds of cigarette butts and micro plastics. In fact, the smaller items are often more hazardous as they can more easily make their way into rivers and streams polluting waterways. It serves as a poignant reminder of the impact of human actions on our environment and the importance of efforts like these to protect our shared natural resources. We're truly grateful for Subaru of Portland's support. Together, we're restoring the Willamette River and nurturing a greener, healthier future for Portland’s most vital and visible waterway. About SOLVE SOLVE brings communities together to take care of our environment and enhance our waterways. Since 1969, the organization has grown from a small, grassroots group to a national model for volunteer action. Today, SOLVE mobilizes and trains tens of thousands of volunteers of all ages across Oregon and Southwest Washington to clean and restore our neighborhoods and natural areas and to build a legacy of stewardship for our state.
